RUNWITHIT Synthetics and Electric Power Research Institute Reimagine Energy in Single Synthetic Environments
RUNWITHIT Synthetics (RWI) and Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) partnered, bringing together RWI’s Single Synthetic Environment (SSE) and EPRI’s energy expertise to supply a collaborative, hyper-localized approach for addressing unique challenges and opportunities surrounding DoD energy transition - critical mission readiness, sustainability and resilience. The resulting SSE, “Your Synthetic Base,” is a rapid and repeat exploration model of each base for quantifying the impacts and outcomes to support stakeholder decision-making.
The SSE reimagines Energy Culture, Policy, and Education in the form of a Synthetic Base. The Synthetic Base is a geospatially accurate living environment constructed from interconnected models arranged to be all-inclusive and encompassing military communities - their lives, livelihoods, motivations, energy choices, new and existing energy technologies, dependencies, grid ties, economics and barriers. The SSE also includes housing, climate, critical mission and campus infrastructures, resilience and energy security impacts and sustainability outcomes. RWI’s Synthetic Base is extensible, sharing modelled entities across bases, and not reliant on complete or comprehensive historical data as the models themselves create the necessary data.
The partnership between RWI and EPRI enables “Your Synthetic Base” to incorporate EPRI’s Subject Matter Expertise, the latest in energy research in a future lab for accelerating energy transition and resilience on USAF Bases.
