RWI Expanding Applications to Inform Connected Care Interventions

EDMONTON, ALBERTA (June 11, 2025) — RUNWITHIT Synthetics Inc. (RWI) is pleased to announce it is receiving advisory services and funding from the National Research Council of Canada Industrial Research Assistance Program (NRC IRAP) to support research and development into mapping disease conditions into rural and remote Synthetic Populations to model, analyze, and visualize the deployment of connected care interventions.

RWI’s research and development efforts will take place within the context of an international consortium supported under the Eureka cluster ITEA (Information Technology for European Advancement). The consortium is focused on developing and implementing a framework to reshape health risk assessment, emergency response, and treatment.

“Change is motivated by compelling data, but sometimes charts and graphs are not enough. Augmenting our capability to relate health and novel interventions to quantifiable outcomes for people, their loved ones, their communities, and healthcare systems will enable RWI to tackle one of the most important sectors for accelerated innovation adoption.”

- Myrna Bittner

CEO and Co-Founder, RUNWITHIT Synthetics

With NRC IRAP support, RWI will focus on research and incorporating new disease states and health attributes into our Synthetic Populations adding the necessary granularity for exploring scenarios around the impact of connected care availability for patients in remote and rural communities, specifically.

RWI will investigate the ripple effects of successfully executed connected care, as well as its absence, in terms of the burden placed on caregivers and the health system, of potentially lost income and productivity, and social cohesion, should individuals need to leave their communities to access necessary health interventions.

“While remote patient care promises a critical lifeline for many communities across Canada, this new technology relies on critical infrastructure systems including communications and electricity. We look forward to adding these new technology applications in health for consideration in our resilience intelligence and tabletop environments.”

- Dean Bittner

CTO and Co-Founder, RUNWITHIT Synthetics

These scenarios will inform and support the work undertaken by our consortium partners across Canada and Europe, where numerous jurisdictions face similar challenges in providing a high standard of care for shifting demographics and populations aiming to age in place.
