Reducing Compute and Ecological Impacts
In an identical task of synthesizing a population, all the individuals, households, in the residences of Canada, with demographic and geographic accuracy within 5%, GPT estimated a computation cost of 2 billion tokens for mainstream techniques, and the use of 3,000,000 litres of water, 1,500 kilowatt hours of electricity, and 1,500 kg of CO2e.
INFLECTOR AI completed this challenge while consuming only 3 kilowatt hours of electricity, by GPT’s estimate, consuming 2-10 litres of water and producing 100-200 grams of CO2e. With efficiency and scalability from edge to cloud, INFLECTOR AI powers live simulations of complex systems, including cities, regions, and countries, with complete synthetic populations, on enterprise servers and consumer laptops, and running capably on IoT, edge, and disconnected devices.
