RWI Launches Synthetic Lab in Partnership with the FAMILYPSYCLE® Institute

Edmonton, Alberta (May 29, 2026) — We’re excited to announce the soft launch of the Synthetic Waterloo Intelligent Futures Technology (SWIFT™) Hub, led by Dr. Dillon Browne at the University of Waterloo, Founder & Director of FamilyPsycle®, in partnership with RUNWITHIT Synthetics and located at the City of Kitchener’s SDG Idea Factory.

SWIFT™ will establish an open synthetic modelling hub, converging research across disciplines to unlock unique, interconnected investigation opportunities; maintain and sustain funding pathways; and strengthen research impact, training, industry and community connections. From mental health and workforce development to housing, climate, infrastructure, and economic systems, SWIFT™ enables users to model and test solutions before implementing them in the real world.

“Our corporate vision and philosophy, and fondest wishes, lie at the centre of this launch - to ensure that the best ideas, research and knowledge can be seen by many, that the relationship between ideas converging across disciplines and generations is visible and tangible, and that the resultant sharing translates directly into beneficial impact for many communities and future generations.”

- Myrna Bittner

RWI CEO and Co-Founder

“Increasingly, the challenges affecting our young people and families today cut across sectors or disciplines that have been historically siloed in the university. SWIFT™ is designed to converge researchers from disparate areas, along with policymakers, community voice representatives, and private industry. Ultimately, we want to support youth to design their own futures.”

- Dr. Dillon Browne

Canada Research Chair in Child and Family Clinical Psychology, University of Waterloo, Founder of FamilyPsycle®

FamilyPsycle® aims to improve clinical mental health services for diverse Canadian families by integrating the smaller clinical community, laboratory samples, and national databases into a complete synthetic population and generating a suite of dynamic synthetic models to simulate health outcomes and inform decision-making, policy and program development, and therapeutic interventions.

This novel program is supported by the Canada Research Chairs Program, Canadian Foundation for Innovation John R. Evans Leaders (CFI-JELF) funding mechanism.
